A mentorship program and a project to address anti-semitism won the contest.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the two winners of the Invent2Prevent competition. The program tasks high school and university students with developing and proposing unique projects aimed at making their campuses safer. More than 1,100 students from 119 universities and 92 high schools participated in the program.
“Teams were challenged to consider not only how they might counter targeted violence, terrorism, and acts of hate, but also how to empower initiatives that advocate for community connectedness and inclusivity, mentorship, and the accessibility of pro-social activities,” said Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “The winners and finalists rose to that challenge and the work they are doing is vital to safeguarding our future.”
